Old school dining experience. Brightly lit with no music (or maybe it was too quiet?). No actual candles or table decor. Went here for my thirtieth birthday, and the food was completely bland. Thirty something dollar basil pasta had cheap mozzarella balls, no real basil for decoration. Alfredo didn’t have any seasonings, not a fleck of parsley or anything. Calamari was okay but wasn’t what was described on the menu. Striped bass was again, just okay. Overall, everything just needed depth and flavor. Had to pay for bread at the table, and it didn’t come with oil or rose shaped butter (I don’t think it came with butter at all). Our server kept sniffling very obnoxiously, and it was wintertime so that was off putting. Completely overpriced. Plates should have been $25 tops, if that. Seafood was nearly appropriately priced. Wish I would have spent my birthday and $300+ elsewhere.
We came there for lunch and ordered a pasta. It was delicious. Interior and vibe might not be as chic as in other restaurants in downtown, but for business meal or quick food it’s good.
I had pre show dinner with a friend. Drink list was very limited. I got the daiquiri, it had a very wired taste like a juice made from rotten fruit. Also it's supposed to have luxardo cherries. It had none. I looked at the menu to see if I can switch with something else but it was so limited that I couldn't see anything that would work. My food , striped bass was satisfactory. My friend's food the risotto was terrible. There was so much cheese it looked like a cross between a soft polenta and a very cheesy soup. Very pungent smell too. The "vibe" of the place was flat.
Needles to say the experience was disappointing.
The location seems to make the business not the choices, authenticity or creativity.of the menu.
I took my mother here last night for a special night out. This restaurant is all looks and no substance. My pasta cream sauce had lumps of uncooked flour in it. The basil cream sauce was almost medicinal. The wait staff was pushy. Tried to get us to order the most expensive dishes. When we didn’t he left and did not come back until it was time for the check. Will not be back.
Server was amazing! He gave nice recommendations for drinks and food. Food was good. My only issue with the place was the rude greeting. The hostess or manager (not sure what her position is) was very rude. I entered the restaurant, there was no one at the host stand, I saw my friend seated and walked towards our table. I crossed paths with the hostess/manager and instead of saying hello or asking if she could assist, she spouted off a nasty comment. I felt attacked. Aside from her, my experience was a good one.
Don’t skip out on this place, and definitely don’t skip out on the chicken. Whoever is making the decisions back there is doing something very right. The garlic mashed potatoes were immaculate—smooth, creamy, flavorful, and buttery. The chicken was cooked to absolute perfection, with juices oozing out. The flavor was spot on and the pan sauce complimented the chicken wonderfully. Only thing is the broccoli rabe was incredibly bitter, nearly inedible, so I suggest swapping out that vegetable. The tomato basil soup was to die for, and if you get the martini, ask for blue cheese olives, because those olives were amazing. Seriously, this place is legit! They even had gluten free pasta for my husband. The chef back there KNOWS what they’re doing. Incredible food. And I’m definitely a food snob. Bravo!
Incredible restaurant!!! Service was beyond wonderful and food was some of the best Italian I’ve ever had.
